=In Pennsylvania, nursing home lawyers have started using a little known statute to force adult children to pay the health care costs of their aging parents. The statute is called a filial responsibility law, and is a carryover from 17th century English law. It dates back to colonial times when children were legally required to financially assist their parents if they were unable to pay for their own care.
