The MyCOHP Initiative for Teens and Tweens

The MyCOHP Initiative of Children of Hoarders, Inc. was launched in 2018 to serve the interests of Minor and Youth Children of Hoarding Parents. We seek to illuminate the distinctive challenges children may suffer growing up in hoarded homes, to promote awareness, interventions, resources, and policy tailored to the needs of minors. We believe the long-term interests of family members align and better alternatives are possible. Existing infrastructure has arisen to serve the needs of individuals with HD and Adult COHPs. This initiative is dedicated to the interests of children less able to advocate for themselves.

The first project created by the initiative is the MyCOHP Online Peer Support Group for Minors and Youth, launched in late 2018. It can be found at:

http://MyCOHP.com (or https://groups.io/g/MyCOHP)

The MyCOHP group at groups.io is a safe, understanding, peer support group for teens and youth living in the hoard.

It’s a place to discuss growing up living in a hoarded home, and to learn from others with similar experiences. Older teens, university students and other young adults often struggle with shared difficulties of gaining independence and escaping a hoarded home, while worrying how their parents will manage. You are most welcome here, as are younger tweens struggling with these challenges.
