=====================================
Hello COH,
My name is Laura M. Niehaus and I am a graduate student studying sociology at the University of Akron in northern Ohio currently working on my master’s thesis. I am looking for volunteers to be interviewed about their experiences living in a house with a hoarder.
I plan to examine the childhood experiences and life course of individuals who grew up in a household with a hoarding parent. I am personally interested in this topic because my mother was a hoarder for the majority of my life and there has been very little academic research that studies how the environment of hoarding affects family members, especially children.
To volunteer:
-You must be over 18 years old.
-You must have lived in a house with a hoarding parent for some portion of your childhood.
-You must have moved away from that house.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email me at lmn28@zips.uakron.edu and I will give you more information. If you decide to volunteer, you will be asked to participate in one confidential phone interview.
This is a chance for you to tell your story about your experiences as a child of a hoarder and help expand the research and understanding of the effects that growing up in hoarding household may have on a person’s life.
