The time my life changed because of hoarding

In the beginning of the year 2011, my life was turned upside down because of hoarding. I moved in with my grandparents age two. I was too young to know it but I had just moved into the world of hoarding. It was a new house at the time I moved.

As years went by the boxes started adding in the living room then in the kitchen then to the washroom.By the time i was 10 you could barely walk through the house due to boxes of stuff or just food on the floor. The only decent room was mine.March 16, 2011, my grandmother woke up to see half the bathroom wall in fire.

I was fourteen running like a chicken with its head cut off getting my elderly grandparents out my grandmother did not want to go. I finally got my grandmother out of the house. Come to find out my grandfather was still in there. I ran to go in and he came out of the house, tears running down his face the first time I’d ever seen him cry. We stood outside watching as the house burnt to ashes.

The cause was electrical wiring due to hoarding the wire had got wet in a box of clothes and shorted out. I was relieved of the hoarding from that house it was depressing yet satisfying.Today my school has a new house in for my grandparents and I. When not at Marching Band I spend my life struggling to keep it clean.Countless arguments resulting in anxiety attacks has came out of this all.

I am exhausted physically, emotionally, and spiritually due to doing this while balancing my life.Their hoarding has been refined to their room ,but the struggle is keeping it there.I’m glad I’m not alone like I feel most of the time.
