Proposal To Members of “Children of Hoarders”

Dear All,

TwoFour, an award winning production company based in London, have been commissioned by the BBC to make a landmark documentary film focusing on a lady living in the UK who is a chronic sufferer of ‘Hoarding Disorder’ and her family.

The film will be purely observational and will focus on this extraordinary lady with a heart-breaking condition and the relationship with her family (who are totally supportive); exploring the reasons behind her need to hoard as well as her on-going treatment with a psychiatrist, psychologist and support groups.

This film will be far from a sensationalist intervention programme. We hope to raise awareness in Britain through this film and we hope her story will encourage other silent sufferers to seek help.

Much of her journey and her past will be told through the eyes of one of her five adult children. We are keen that she has the opportunity to meet other children of people suffering from ‘Hoarding Disorder’ but because of the nature and stigma surrounding the condition, it is often and understandably hard to find people willing to discuss their experiences.

We are looking for someone based in the UK to take part briefly in our film and perhaps discuss their shared experiences on camera with the daughter – not least to show that this is not an isolated problem and that there are other people out there in the same position.

We welcome any advice or contact. If any further details or questions are required please don’t hesitate to contact me via email at Ben.Richards@twofour.co.uk

Warm Regards, Benjamin Richards
(Assistant Director)
